Brett S. Tetrault grew up in the town of Lac Du Bonnet, Manitoba. Brett’s passion had largely been the subject of filmmaking from a young age. Eventually, he attended the University of Winnipeg’s film/theatre program and worked with a few film productions in Winnipeg. However, he chose to pursue writing instead of film after attending his second year at the university. Taking inspiration from many of the books he read over his lifetime, such as Watership Down and The Song of Ice and Fire series, he began writing what would be the very first book in his series The Source of All Things, The Crimson Highway.
